If the ultimate aim of business is to know and understand your client so well that your product or service fits them perfectly and sells itself, should we not spend more time to know them?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frighten us.”
Do these words from Marianne Williamson in her book, a Return to Love (1992) resonate with you?
What is holding you back from a life of abundance?
Do you feel worthy of living a life of abundance?
Abundance has got different meanings to different people. For some, this could translate to having an abundance of money. For some, it could mean an abundance of peace and love. For some, it could equate to an abundance of health.
It could mean going on an extended overseas holiday. It could mean driving the latest and greatest convertible sedan. It could mean celebrating an unexpected victory. It could mean sitting around the fire with friends and family without undercurrents of unresolved stresses and strains. It could mean giving your estranged child one more endearing hug.
Whatever your definition of abundance is, what is holding you back?
What are your limiting beliefs that are holding you hostage?
- I’m too old (or too young).
- I’m not smart enough.
- I am not educated enough.
- I’m afraid of trying and failing.
- You have to have money to make money.
- I’ve already tried everything.
- I can’t do that.
- I don’t feel I really deserve it.
- This is how it has always been done.
- All the good partners are taken.
Sound familiar? Chances are you are making yourself a victim of limiting beliefs.
The good news is that you are not alone. No one is perfect and everyone has experienced limiting beliefs at some point or another. Yes, you have heard right. Even the most successful people have doubts. That is just how the unconscious mind works.
The difference between successful people and those who are not is that successful people see this as part of the process to success. They do not curl up in a little bundle and feel sorry for themselves (for too long). They get up and fix it.
It is very similar to how babies and toddlers handle ‘failure’. What would happen if babies who are starting out with the process of walking fall down and stay down? We would all be oversized crawling monsters. We are born with a clean slate. Without limiting beliefs that are instilled in us by well-meaning people around us.
So how do we fix this?
Try exchanging some of your limiting beliefs with positive and actionable thoughts which give you control.
Here are some positive statements that will help you get started:
- You are never too old to achieve a new dream
- I am good enough. I can do anything I put my mind to.
- I am intelligent enough to succeed. I am smart enough.
- Tried everything? Try again or try something new.
- Can’t do that? What have you done successfully in the past?
- Don’t feel like you deserve it? It is your birthright to deserve it.
- Never be able to do that? Well never is a long time. You might want to rethink your strategy. Break down the challenge into smaller chunks of 1% improvement at a time.
- Lost hope in finding a soulmate? They are still lots of interesting and kind people out there.
- Can’t see the need to change anything because ‘this is how it has always been done’? Unless you are jumping for joy every morning when you wake up and go to bed with a smile, chances are that you might be in denial and need to reflect on what abundant life you could lead if you break free from generational limiting beliefs.
- Afraid you might fail? Edison was asked after many failed attempts to make the electric light bulb, why he kept trying. He simply replied that he had not failed he had just found a thousand ways of how it did not work.
“You’re playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you”
“As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others”
What would you do if you had unlimited resources?
What would you do if you had unlimited time?
What would you do now if you knew you could not fail?
What are you waiting for?
