The add+VENTURES Roadmap - Pilot Episode
Listen on your favorite podcast platform.
Welcome to the pilot episode of The Add+Ventures Roadmap
(to Rediscover your Business Adventures).
We have been helping entrepreneurs build their businesses since 2004 and are here to help you, the entrepreneur who has been around the block, to rediscover your business adventures.
The Add+Ventures Roadmap is based on 7 areas which include:
1. Finding Your Why
2. Loving Thy Client
3. Summiting your Mind
4. Simplifying the Complexities of Business
5. Rowing with the Flow
6. Balancing BOP
7. Splashing into Lateral Thinking.
And yes, you will be part of this adventure in more ways than one.
For starters, we want your feedback on what your biggest challenges are.
If you had a 1-on-1 business coach, what would you have asked them?
If you had one wish for your business, what would that be?
And what would be the most important how-to or template that you want to lay your hands on?
“The world is drowning in information and starving for wisdom.” These are the words of Tony Robbins in his seminar Unleash the Power Within.
Our dream is to use the over three decades of being in the brand-building industry, a lifetime in the entrepreneurial world, and a bazillion hours of practical experience and share it with you.
Our WHY is to help our entrepreneurs who have been around the block make sense of the what-to and how-to’s going forward. And yes, we will be bringing in our friends in the world of entrepreneurship as we go along on this journey.
Together we will be rediscovering the adventure in YOUR business.

00:01
Have you ever woken up in the morning, still lying in bed, eyes are closed and the first thing you can think of is, oh sh*t, I have screwed up again.
00:27
Hello, my name is Christél Rosslee-Venter. I will be your host on this journey where we will be rediscovering your business adventures. Lao Tzal, the Chinese philosopher once said, the journey of a thousand miles starts with one single step. And yes, it sounds obvious, but the stresses and strains of entrepreneurship have a tendency of incapacitating us.
00:57
to the point of where we just don’t know how to continue with our business. And our mission is to help you rediscover that adventure. Of course, we do not want you to give up on your business dream. We do not want you to give up,
01:20
on the dream that you’ve had for 20 years, 30 years while working for a boss and never getting to experience the magic that you can have, that adventure that you can have. Or worst of all, you’ve had the courage to start a business and then it all falls flat. We are here to help you.
01:49
through all those bumps in the road. We are here to help you take the next step. Cause yes, there is a million people out there telling you how to do business, what to do, et cetera, et cetera. But very few of them have actually gone through the effort of experiencing all the things that
02:19
Entrepreneurs have been around the block, have experience. And that brings me back to that oh sh*t moment in bed. We want to make sure that those moments are limited to the maximum. And no, we don’t want maximum,
02:42
oh sh*t moments! Definitely not. We want to make sure that they are as little as possible when you wake up in the morning. As far as humanly possible, you should be excited.
02:58
You should feel that bee in your bonnet, that you just can’t wait to start your new day. Yes, today is the beginning of the rest of your life. Sounds cheesy? I know, that’s a reality.
03:17
And everything can change. And we are here to help you. So please, please join us on our journey. So what is the roadmap to rediscover your business adventures all about?
03:34
First and foremost, the focus is on rediscovering. You might have had a business or you might have had a dream for a very, very long time, but now you are at that point in your life where you have to sit back and take stock and rediscover everything. Because reality is life is short.
04:03
If you want to leave a legacy, if you want to make a difference, today is the day to take that first step. But you shouldn’t do it while you are completely stressed out beyond belief. You should do it because you have that feeling of adventure
04:29
in your bones. And yes it brings me back to what our very first guest on our expedition business podcast said to us. His name was Ryno Griesel and please go and check out
04:46
In our show notes below we are going to put the link to that very very first expedition business podcast where we spoke to Ryno Griesel and he said it is not fun because it is fun. It is fun because we have decided it is fun. So there’s seven activities that we are going to work through.
05:13
The difference is between that and an adventure race, which I first thought of when we created this, is we are going to be crisscrossing between these activities, starting with finding your why, loving thy client, summit your mind, simplify the complexities of business, rowing with the flow, balancing bob, and splashing into lateral thinking. Sounds a bit crazy?
05:43
a short explanation on our main activities. Finding your why is all about the process of checking with your purpose. What is your legacy that you want to leave behind? Who are the people that you are supposed to serve around you? If you are only doing what you are doing for the money, history has taught us you’ve got a very big surprise coming your way.
06:12
And yes, we know we have to be realistic. We are going to go through all those checkpoints. Love thy Client, a subject very close to my heart. In the 30 odd years that I’ve been in the brand building industry, I know all too well how people skip this very important subject.
06:32
How do your clients look like? What’s important to them? How do they communicate as opposed to you forcing your ideas onto them? And yes, I know as an entrepreneur, time and money is not always on our side. We will be looking at the most basic and fundamental aspects that you have to cover before you miss the boat with your potential clients or customers.
07:02
Summit your mind. Research has shown that 80% of our buying decisions are made with emotion. When we buy a house, it’s not just the square meters, the finishes or even the location, but rather our perception
07:19
of what we are buying. The perception of safety, the perception of love and enjoyment that’s lying ahead for us. It’s all to do with NLP or neuro-linguistic programming, which has been said to be the magic formula for improving our lives, increasing our bank balance. It’s very much about prepping ourselves as entrepreneurs, communicating with our clients, with our co-workers,
07:49
with our investors and we are going to cover this in great length. Simplifying the complexities of business. This is all to do with the how to’s, how to do a budget, how to do a website, where to advertise, when to advertise, how to handle conflict management and a whole lot more. Rowing with a flow.
08:15
We want to get you to those eureka moments. You know those times when you’re busy with an activity that you just can’t stop? That is what the psychologists refer to as a state of flow. And we are going to delve much deeper into this amazing facet of psychology. But there’s a twist. I found…
08:42
most neuroscience and positive psychology talk to be a bit grandiose. And yes, I had to Google this word, but we are going to try and get rid of all the highfalutin terms and terminologies so that normal run-of-the-mill entrepreneurs like myself can understand and implement it into my business. And then we get to the balancing bob checkpoint and…
09:11
Yes, balancing our lives is something we know is very, very important, but we often forget it. And we have to be reminded about balancing our business, other people and our personal lives. And yes, it does sound very simple, but we can lead to burnout very quickly without us knowing and making the dumbest of mistakes that we’re going to regret for a very long time.
09:40
I know I have been there. So, finally, at checkpoint number seven, we will be splashing into lateral thinking. And this is where we’re going to get creative with our solutions. Not just to be creative for creativity sake, but to make a difference in our lives. Brand new angles at problem solving. And,
10:07
One of my favorite pictures to describe lateral thinking is having a maze with point A and B on either side. How do you get from point A to point B? Do you have to go through the maze? Follow someone else’s rules? Can you just skip from A to B right over the maze? Who says we have to follow conventional rules? Really? There’s much.
10:35
better ways if we just use our creativity. And I do believe we are going to have lots of fun with it. As Ryno Griesel, our very first interviewer at our Expedition Business podcast said, it’s not fun because it’s fun. It’s fun because we’ve decided it is fun. And we’re going to give you lots of clarity, lots of fun with this lateral
11:04
thinking subject.
